I wrote the Arts COuncil and asked to be... I don't know how/when it's decided, though I'm sure a lot of it has to do with traffic flow, and what else looks good in the area... so if a lot of my neighbors dress it up, we'll have more chance. :)
alas, the folks across the street from me seem to have given up the practice. i assume it's a combination of kids getting older and new siding on the house. :-)
I'm so disappointed! according to Bigler's rating scheme we are only "average". I shall be stopping at the hardware store forthwith to pick up some different kinds of blinkers.
An animatronic polar bear on the roof would add three points and take us right past "that house" into "must be experienced in person". And they're only $60 at Target. Hmm.
I am really really tempted to find a way to make an inflatable(?) illuminated seated gold Buddha, to have as the only thing in front of our house... I'd have to make one tho as i doubt they're sold, and it'd be cooler that way... (researches fiberglass construction techniques)
A blinking, multicolored 1500-watt animatronic polar bear with sound effects on the roof would be eight points all by itself! Maybe I should be looking for one of those.
whoah! *grin* I am impressed! I love the palm trees too :P
And I'm feeling woefully under lit. I just got us one strand of LED lights at Target this weekend but haven't put them up yet. I'm not sure I like 'em, they're supposed to be white, but are are very blue to me. But they are LEDs, which is geeky :)
Now I need to figure out how to plug the lights in from the outside! We don't have an external outlet... hmm...
I must admit my first thoughts are to the increased energy consumption. That being said, scoring hugely on JCB's scale does have a certain allure. Because there's no killing like an overkilling.
