a thousand points
a thousand points

Look what [livejournal.com profile] miss_chance and I did this weekend!

Yes, we've been enjoying it all evening! You have the best street!

[identity profile] dda.livejournal.com 2006-12-04 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
Wow!

[identity profile] infinitehotel.livejournal.com 2006-12-04 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
Gorgeous!

Nicely Done! Bravo!

Are you on the tour this year?

I wrote the Arts COuncil and asked to be... I don't know how/when it's decided, though I'm sure a lot of it has to do with traffic flow, and what else looks good in the area... so if a lot of my neighbors dress it up, we'll have more chance. :)

Oooooh! Shiny!

[identity profile] vettecat.livejournal.com 2006-12-04 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
Gorgeous! I love the palm trees and the second-floor rainbow.

I second the love of the palm trees - very pretty!

[identity profile] rmd.livejournal.com 2006-12-04 01:12 pm (UTC)(link)
excellent. i love it.

alas, the folks across the street from me seem to have given up the practice. i assume it's a combination of kids getting older and new siding on the house. :-)

Oh, dear. I wonder how this fares on jcb's Christmas Light Display Rating System.

[identity profile] palmwiz.livejournal.com 2006-12-04 02:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm so disappointed! according to Bigler's rating scheme we are only "average". I shall be stopping at the hardware store forthwith to pick up some different kinds of blinkers.

the good news...

[identity profile] palmwiz.livejournal.com 2006-12-04 03:01 pm (UTC)(link)
An animatronic polar bear on the roof would add three points and take us right past "that house" into "must be experienced in person". And they're only $60 at Target. Hmm.

I am really really tempted to find a way to make an inflatable(?) illuminated seated gold Buddha, to have as the only thing in front of our house... I'd have to make one tho as i doubt they're sold, and it'd be cooler that way... (researches fiberglass construction techniques)

A blinking, multicolored 1500-watt animatronic polar bear with sound effects on the roof would be eight points all by itself! Maybe I should be looking for one of those.

Well, you sure put us to shame. The palm trees are a nice touch.

i think you should make the lights on the second-floor railing spell out "BAH HUMBUG".

[identity profile] palmwiz.livejournal.com 2006-12-04 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
We looked at letter lights -- they had P-E-A-C-E and N-O-E-L. That gets you the "A" you need, but the rest of it you'd need to make yourself.

[identity profile] mud-puppy.livejournal.com 2006-12-04 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
whoah! *grin* I am impressed! I love the palm trees too :P

And I'm feeling woefully under lit. I just got us one strand of LED lights at Target this weekend but haven't put them up yet. I'm not sure I like 'em, they're supposed to be white, but are are very blue to me. But they are LEDs, which is geeky :)

Now I need to figure out how to plug the lights in from the outside! We don't have an external outlet... hmm...

Wooo... ! Pretty!

[identity profile] c1.livejournal.com 2006-12-05 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
I must admit my first thoughts are to the increased energy consumption.
That being said, scoring hugely on JCB's scale does have a certain allure. Because there's no killing like an overkilling.

Oh, fun!
