One of the rules in rallying is sometimes that suffixes and prefixes don't count towards the name of a road. So if you're told to turn onto Smith, and the first Smith you encounter is N Smith Ave, and you later encounter E Smith St, they're the same street.

Which makes it all the more amusing, as I clean up Arisia's databases, to encounter addresses on streets like "E Street".

Is E a prefix in that case, or the name?

Would you ever be told to turn onto E, and then have to ignore E Smith St?

On the way to baitcon when donnad and I got confused by route 9w not actually being west on 9, but in fact being a north-south road labeled as such, I vaguely recalled a conversation about that sort of thing. The directions of course weren't, just saying "9w", lending itself to the mistaken assumption that if one were to turn around it would become the nonexistent 9e. Would that also make a hash of rally directions?
