The big days were Saturday and Sunday. (Moving on a weekday is enough of a pain in the ass that most people arrange to move on the weekend preceding 9/1.) I saw a lot of UHauls and a lot of SUVs and minivans (the latter usually with parents included). I've seen Budget taking more of the market than it used to, but that may be because more people realize what a bunch of unreliable nincompoops UHaul is.
The reason you didn't see any Ryders is because Budget bought them a few years ago. http://www.yellowtruck.com goes to Budget now (most of whose trucks are blue).
