It makes me sad to see people I like doing an avoidably bad job of something. You'd think I'd be used to it, being a Democrat and all, but it's still hard to watch.

just to be clear: it's totally great to do an *unavoidably* bad job of something. Better to do that than leave it undone. It's the unforced errors by people who know better that make me cringe.

Yep. Although I will admit that, right now, I'm taking some grim schadenfreude watching people I don't like making unforced errors that confirm why I don't like them.
