Real yeast-raised, fried, honey-glazed donuts without the waxy taste of Dunkin Donuts or the overwhelming sweetness of Krispy Kreme. Lighter than a KK but not as fresh or quick to melt in your mouth. Decent coffee. Good dunkers too, crunchy enough to be pleasant soaked in coffee without being too crumbly.

Cool! Thanks for the pointer.

TB and Boardman have a list of good donut shops in Greater Boston. They started with a magazine article and sampled the donuts at each. I've been meaning to ask them for the list, and this reminds me.

FWIW, Mike's has been frequently mentioned on the Boston-area Chowhound board. Will have to try them someday, if I'm ever in the area. I'm fond of the Heavenly Donut mini-chain (one each in Methuen, Haverhill, and somewhere in CT), and there's Butler's Colonial Doughnut House in Westport, which has amazing cream-filled doughnuts in the colder months. Keep hearing good things about Kane's in Saugus, but haven't gotten there yet either.
