good advice

I don't often repost, but this advice to new managers is too good, and too relevant to what some of my friends are up to, to pass up. It's couched as being advice for engineering managers, but it rings awfully true in nonprofit management as well.

It seems like a lot of sound management strategies can be implemented accidentally with laziness.

Frequently I've seen people hired into new management positions and then the first thing do is make some changes to prove that hiring them was the right decision (such as the new Marketing manager changing the company's logo) without first waiting to get a feel for the position and the company.
