"Fuck you, George W Bush" had already won the 2002, 2005, and 2007 Nobel Peace Prizes. That makes the 2009 prize recipient not so strange at all.

Roosevelt set up the National Parks Systems and arguably did more for the American Environment (and, for that matter, much of the world by introducing the concept of "national parks" being a place left to nature rather than man-made order) than any other national leader to date. One aspect that would be against his "douchebag" nomination.

I think people should get awards for actually "doing" something relating to the award rather than "not being a guy we don't like".
