I always assumed it was a sail from something?

Up until about 5 seconds ago, I always saw it as a semi reflective surface, with a rim. Just now I realized it looks like something that looks like the St. Louis arch with the dark sky behind it.

Looks like the view out an airplane window, catching the end of an engine with sky and water in the background.

It is in fact a photograph of the Thomas Jefferson National Expansion Memorial, commonly known as the St. Louis Arch.

Even knowing what it is I can't see it. *squint* Which part of it is it?

I took the photo from very close to one of the supports, looking up. The arch is triangular in cross-section with a vertex pointing in/down so that one could stand on the flat top of the arch (if one could somehow get up there). I'm standing a little off center so that only one face of the triangle is visible until well into the bend.
