I use bluetooth to communicate between my phone and my laptop all the time. I use it to send and receive SMS messages, and when necessary, to dial in. (This came in real handy during the hurricane a few weeks ago, for example.)
I wish I had a PDA with bluetooth; right now, I still use infrared to dial in from my PDA.
