name change

It was a lot of fun to write programs for -- the environment being very similar to early Macintoshes -- and for a while there I was doing some crazy amazing things with them. I am still probably the world's expert on microsecond timing for PalmOS, if only because no one else has ever needed better than the 1/100 second timing the OS gives you. But no one thinks of that when they see my username for the first time. Probably only a few of them ever did. So, I think it is time for a change.
I chose 'palmwiz' as a username in the first place because 'phi' was taken on LJ, and it still is, so that's not an option. I could pick some other thing I like to do, but my relationship to those things is ever shifting. So instead I've gone back to my roots and picked another name for the Euler phi function: 'totient'.
I expect I'll be pulling the trigger on the LJ (and most likely DW) name change in the next week or so.
I don't expect I'll change my gmail address. If I want to use phi@somewhere I have several options elsewhere that already forward to gmail. Though I will probably step on totient@gmail and have that forward too, and at some point perhaps I will change the default outgoing address I use.
