As some of you may know, I'm last year's Northeast Division SCCA road rally champion in class L. (which is different from being the defending champion, because I'm competing in class E this year instead of defending my championship.) There are a lot of series around and most of them net you a $5 trophy at the end. This one, though, has a prize that's worth money: a free entry and two free nights in a hotel for a National rally of your choice. Laurel and I have been planning to use this prize go to the Johnny Appleseed rally in Ohio on the first weekend in October. It's the last one in the National series (besides the US Road Rally Challenge, which we can't make it to), one of the closest, and probably the most fun.

And it's not going to be a National rally this year, because the rallymaster had some last-minute flakage on his paperwork.
