Hmmm. Clarification question: Is "this" the address, the Waffle House, or the bowling alley?
That street is one that locals are trying to make more walkable, but that's not very unusual. For the bowling alley, my first thought was to check where the Big Lebowski filmed its bowling scenes, but that was in LA. Can't find anything that stands out about that Waffle House.
Kind of a guess, based on you being you and some of the signs indicating it's summertime: is a street view car driving through a partial eclipse? That cloudy section down the road does get a bit dark, but I can't tell if it's *that* dark. I know there was a street view car that drove across the edge of totality but that was in Missouri.
That's really cool about the street view car in Missouri! I will have to go find that, put it in a later what's this, and see who remembers this thread.
And you are on to something by noticing that I had a choice of different street views and did not choose the default one. But while I made that choice very much on purpose, the exact date of the photo you're looking at isn't what's interesting about it.
Several people have described this as a "stroad", though not using that term. One particular photo of it, taken from this spot and in this direction, has become one of about half a dozen poster children for stroads and everything that's wrong with them, in videos and articles like https://americawalks.org/what-does-a-walkable-street-look-like/.
