Huh. Now I'm thinking that those talking about fandom as a community already may be thinking more about the traditional/governmental sense of the world. And now Those People are trying to move in... except they've been there all along. I'll need to think about this more.
Yeah, qualifications for entry beyond "but all you have to do is show up and work hard" (which is both not true and not enough) would be good. Community standards also involve maintaining/renewing membership and fixing Missing Stairs. I know you know that but wanted to say so explicitly.
