statistics

high temperature: 70 degrees F
first arrival: 5:25 PM
starting size of candy bowl: 600+ pieces
100th arrival: 6:35 PM
last arrival: 8:10 PM
ending size of candy bowl: 1 piece
total number of kids: 205

Around 8:30, after having been closed up for a while, I headed out for a burrito and encountered a group of seven hardy 13-to-14-year-old trick-or-treaters; they went so far as to ring our doorbell after hitting the next door neighbors who were one of two houses still open on the block. They're not included in the statistics. Sorry, kids, but it's not just that we were out. Halloween was over.

Wow!

And I thought my neighborhood was full of kids. We got 61, after at least one year of being away for Halloween.

You think that's impressive...

There are six houses between mine and [livejournal.com profile] palmwiz's. We got significantly fewer than fifty trick or treaters. That was with my housemates sitting in the driveway in costume. (Although in their defense they were only out there for an hour.)

Last year we got no trick or treaters at all.

This neighborhood is weird.

And one of those is the one that does their house up elaborately enough to attract television crews. Which hour was it that your housemates were out there? I wouldn't expect kids to come to the other side of the house, since that's such a busy street.

They were out 6:30-7:30pm or so.

That's why they were in the driveway. (Although I'm sure I trick or treated on busy streets when I was a kid)

We probably got about 60 kids during the 6:30 to 7:30 hour.

Wow. And with exactly one piece left over. Even the bean-counters are impressed.

How does that compare with previous years?

[identity profile] palmwiz.livejournal.com 2005-11-01 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
The main reason I post these is so that I can come back to it the next year and figure out how much candy to buy and what time I need to be home. So all the historical information is in the calendar view of my LJ, back to the start of this journal in 2002 (plus a little bit of 2001 info in the 2002 entry).

This year was definitely a record, but I knew by the time the 50th kid arrived that it would be, and cut back from 3 or 4 pieces to 2 or 3 so as not to run out.

Would you people stop hogging all the trick-or-treaters???? :p

Next year, I may just not buy any candy. It's not anyone but the wife and I are going to eat it. grr....

Wow... we don't get any at all around here.

[identity profile] wren13.livejournal.com 2005-11-01 06:49 am (UTC)(link)
We don't get any here. We would have a dozen or so at the old house, so I gave toys instead of candy. That way no tempting leftovers afterward. Besides, isn't that what Oriental Trading is for?
