a good day for setting records

Aided by nice weather, light traffic, and a stiff tailwind I set a personal record for my commute home this evening: 45 minutes and 36 seconds. At an average speed of 21.23 miles per hour, that's going to be hard to beat.

Last night, when I heard Monday's weather report, I told Ann that the weather is perfect for setting Marathon records.

I guess it's also true for bicycle records.

Yeah, when I got home and heard that new Boston Marathon course and US records had been set I was completely unsurprised.

I got that same stiff wind, but as a headwind.

Yeah, my outbound time in the morning was not so awesome.

Do you have a lot of stoplights dragging your numbers down (i.e. are they even better than they appear)?

Not very many, and most of those are priority to the streets I ride on, which means that in light traffic they tend to be green for me. I don't think I had to unclip at all last night, though there were a few places where I slowed down to a walking pace to wait for a light ahead of me to change.
