On the one hand, this is true; OTOH, these sorts of storytelling experiences can be profoundly educational. There are stories that I still tell, knowing full well that they have aged poorly, because they are excellent teaching opportunities -- not least, for my contemporaries who may not realize that the times have changed.

For example, some of my stories about the startup world are like this -- stuff that I can, and quite explicitly do, recognize in retrospect as having involved practices that were abusive and/or discriminatory. I still tell them -- but I include the, "... and here is why this was problematic".
